Sustainable Agriculture

We are committed to sustainable agriculture and the highest standards of land stewardship. As members of the Pennsylvania Association of Sustainable Agriculture, we strive to grow all of our produce as naturally as possible, using organic methods, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), natural composted fertilizers, and cover crops to maintain soil health and ecological balance.

Our approach to pest and disease control follows a thoughtful, science-based IPM strategy that prioritizes environmental and human safety. This includes careful monitoring to determine if intervention is necessary, identifying only destructive pests, and implementing preventative measures such as crop rotation, pest-resistant varieties, and pest-free rootstock. When control is required, we use the least risky methods first, such as mating disruption, mechanical barriers (netting), and trapping. If additional treatment is needed, we turn to highly targeted organic solutions like Dipel. The use of broad-spectrum pesticides is an absolute last resort, and any materials used are EPA-approved and applied with precision to minimize impact.

Through these sustainable practices, we ensure that our farm produces high-quality, nutritious food while protecting the land, the environment, and our local community.
